Multi-Category Retail

Introduction

Community System Reframing

Category Reframing & Retail System Logic
Spatial Narrative & Visual Language
Multi-Category Product Organization
Community & Event Activation Structure

Tough Bodega is a multi-category retail concept combining fashion, daily goods, food, and cultural objects. The main issue was fragmentation. Too many categories without a shared logic made the space unclear and difficult to navigate.

The project reframes the store as a community-driven system based on everyday behaviors such as visits and repeated interactions. Instead of organizing by product types, the space is structured around use scenarios, creating a more intuitive retail experience.

Inspired by traditional bodega visuals, bold color, large typography, and dense layouts were developed into a consistent system to support mixed categories. Visual identity, spatial flow, and event programming work together as one unified structure, turning the store into an active social space.

“Ricercar” studies how systems remember their origins, how

repetition becomes variation, and how variation leads to coherence.

It is a practice of returning, so that what moves can begin to think.
